Inaugural Hike via Bernard's

After a brief stop at the Bernard house, Team ExerCYize began its first official team activity, a hike through the YMCA woods, led by Bruce Thompson. Mother nature decorated for us with a beautiful new snow and the team members participating (Bruce, Dale, Diane, Michele, Denise, Connie, Ann and Nedie) had a terrific time.
Highlights included scary bridge crossings, a visit to Squaw Creek, never covering the same ground twice and adding 120 minutes to each participant's log. Lowlights included a sprained ankle and the discovery of two deceased deer (although Nedie clearly regarded the later as a highlight). The coach was pleased to see that Diane heroically recovered from her ankle sprain and went on to hike about 3 more miles. She may be concentrating on upper body exercise for the next few weeks, however.
Team members plan to have similar group activities, including a ski outing, a group tennis lesson, and hike at Dale and Diane's, about once a month. In the mean time, Ana has created a daily exercise log for the team and members are all recording their accomplishments. The record daily minutes so far is held by Bruce Thompson who clocked 185 minutes on Saturday (hike, weights and shoveling snow) in his quest to make up for slacking in the previous three days.
A lowlight of our first week together was Coach Thompson sending several e-mail messages each day and team members voiced concern about Team ExerCYize spamming. Fortunately, Coach Thompson has a busy week at work next week and this situation may resolve itself.
Keep those minutes rolling in!
Signed,
Coach

I think that the coach made a big mistake in not signing up Neddie as a team member. She has to learn that coaching is as much about recruiting as "X's" and "O's".
Xs and Os are important as are motivational techniques such as treats for the hikers! I think Coach is doing a great job keep us all motivated with healthy treats after our hike. Next time let's have chocolate donuts with sprinkles!
First, Nedie thinks Xs and Os are hugs and kisses.
Secondly, I agree recruiting is important...soooo, Connie, how would you like to log some exercise minutes this weekend and play the defending tennis NCAA singles champion from Baylor? It's 2 out of 3 sets so I figure you'd get 15 minutes...ahh, 20, no ball boys.
Great hike, Bruce!
